Oh hello there!
Wow, does it ever feel weird to be typing a blog post after a month of no publishing! Yet, at the same time, extremely familiar. How the heck are you guys!? I hope you’ve been enjoying a fabulous summer so far, savouring as much sunshine, fresh air and unplugged-from-all-things-tech time as possible.
I’ve certainly been doing my best on all those fronts, and have to say that my first 2 months in California so far have been even more wonderful than I could have ever hoped. If we’re Instagram buddies, you might have caught a few glimpses of this new adventure in my feed and stories. If not, here’s a little visual summary for you.
Beach bum. Plant lady. Creeper of beachfront properties. Eater of all the colours of the rainbow. Grill master. Yes, this is pretty much what I’ve turned into.
You may recall that in July, I declared a mini summer vacation and talked about my reasons for doing so. In a nutshell, I’d very recently moved to LA from Vancouver and knew that in order to fully enjoy my early time here, I needed to do something I haven’t done in the entire 8+ years of this blog’s existence: put it on the back burner. I wanted to let myself become fully immersed in my new adventure, having new experiences, settling into my new job, meeting new people and being open to whatever came my way. The prospect of all this made my inner control freak and routine-loving self a bit uneasy, but to be completely honest, it’s been exactly what I needed.
So what now?
I know you’re wondering, so I’ll tell ya! Originally my little blogging sabbatical was meant to be for one month, and I’ve decided to make the true return in September. But why?
Firstly, because time is truly FLYING.
I can’t believe it’s August already. I swear, ever since I moved here it’s been like entering some sort of time warp where weekends are in fast-forward mode. HOW is July over?
Second (and related to the first reason) is that I’ve become way more inspired than ever before when it comes to perspective on health, creativity, relationships, purpose and other aspects of personal growth. I want to take one more month to soak up that inspiration before sharing back these ideas with you guys.
Interestingly, I’m picking up on things I didn’t see back when my head was buried in the daily grind of pre-LA life. It’s amazing how stepping back can help you notice things you never did before… kind of like watching Grease at 10 years old, then again at 16, and realizing what some of those lines really meant. Trust me, we have SO much to talk about once September comes. I’m dying to pour some of these thoughts out on digital paper and chat more about them with you!
Third is that there’s a little – ok, a BIG – project happening behind the scenes: The blog is going to be undergoing some major rebranding surgery, including a new name!
Yes, that’s right. Eat Spin Run Repeat is growing up, and needs a new name to reflect that. Although it scares me to think about how much work is involved, I’m SO excited to leap into this because it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a really, really long time. As mentioned here, I’ve been trying to figure out how best to continue serving you guys in a helpful, impactful and inspiring way that is also authentically me. I’ve got a team of people ready to help with the technical logistics, and if all goes according to plan, September will be the debut of the new look.
…and on that note, a heads up:
You might notice that things look/function a little differently here, as well as on my social channels over the next couple of weeks. I like to think that this process is going to go super smoothly, but am bracing myself for a few technical glitches. After all, 8 years is a LOT of content to work with. So in advance, thank you so much for bearing with me. Look forward to the big reveal next month!
Right, let’s get back to vacation mode, shall we? I’ll see you back here in September, and until then, you’ll find me sharing a few summer snaps (plus announcements about the blog’s next chapter) on Instagram. Happy August!
