Happy World Cardmaking Day!
How awesome is it that there’s a holiday for cardmakers? Ok, well maybe not a holiday since today is Saturday, but a day dedicated to card making world-wide is pretty great if you ask me. This all began back in 2006, and I definitely wasn’t a crafter back then. In fact, I’d just moved back to Canada from the Middle East to start university! I’m making up for some lost time this weekend though, because I’ve got every intention of spending alllll day making holiday cards.
But first…
A glittery celebration card made with The Stamp Market Party Pieces stamp and die bundle! I’m constantly running out of birthday cards, but you could use this for any celebration. This bundle comes with a whole bunch of cake decoration stamps and dies, so you can “bake” cakes with different looks.
For the cake here, I made the pedestal and bow with Metallic Platinum Sparkle Embossing Glitter from WOW. (Perhaps not surprisingly, the glitter is my favourite part of the card!) For the top icing layer and sentiment I used light purple embossing powder, and then went with some simple stamping in Orchid ink for the parts on the side of the cake. After assembling it, I created a background on a white panel using Tropic Teal and Sea Glass ink, as well as a brushstroke stamp. I die cut a Scalloped Frame just a little larger than my cake, then adhered both with skinny foam strips. The card needed just a liiiiittle more sparkle, so I finished with a few clear gems.
Alright, my craft supplies are calling my name. Have a lovely weekend, and I hope you manage to get some crafting time in too!
