All About You featuring Essentials By Ellen Organic Elements

Today is All About You - Featuring Essentials by Ellen Organic Elements Stamp Set

Hey friends!

Today I’ve got a fun card to share that features a stamp set that I was positively GIDDY to get inky. I’ll start by saying that I definitely don’t consider myself a crazy advanced stamper – in fact, I’m super clumsy and almost always end up experiencing several ‘oopsie’ moments in every craft session. Because of this, I wasn’t super confident about a card that features mostly stamping – specifically, stamping that overlaps a lot. But I’m very proud to report that it worked out really well, and if I can do it, you certainly can too!

I started off the way I always do, which was sitting down with my ink swatch cards to select colors. After a bit of testing to ensure that overlapping inks wouldn’t produce some sort of non-desirable shade, I went with the following combo of inks:

Now into the fun part – the stamp set! I used the Essentials by Ellen Organic Elements stamp set, designed by Julie Ebersole (whom I shamelessly fangirl) for the latest Ellen Hutson release. Friends, the plant lady in me loves – and I mean ADORES – every single stamp in this set, and it was hard not to use them all on a single card! I stamped out a few combinations of solid abstract shapes, leaves and little accents, and ended up with 2 clusters:

  • Warm Buff (tan) abstract solid background + Doe (light brown) solid leaves + Marigold (yellow) dotted circle
  • Lilac (light purple) abstract solid background + Candy Violet (purple) leafy branch + Eggplant semi-circle

With my combinations ready to go, I started stamping my white card panel, working from the bottom left, clockwise until I came back around to the bottom. I wanted to ensure that the images stayed sharp and crisp when stamped on top of each other, so I was careful to let the ink dry before layering on additional stamped elements.

Once the card panel was full all the way around the edges, I trimmed a little off each side, put foam tape on the back, and mounted it on my A2 card panel. For the sentiment, I used the new Essentials by Ellen All About You stamp set, which is full of so many wonderful words that coordinate with the Essentials by Ellen You die. This is an amazing set to have because all of the sentiments come in a single large piece, and so does the coordinating die. That means mass production of sentiments is super simple, and if you’re anything like me, having ready-made ones to choose from is always very helpful!

I embossed “today is all about” in white on Concord and 9th Eggplant cardstock, and used the same cardstock for the shadow layer of the You die. Then for contrast, I cut the inner layer of the You die twice from white cardstock, stacking the layers on top of each other for some dimension. I adhered the sentiments onto the card base with foam tape, and finished with a few little yellow enamel dots that coordinated with the stamped dotted circles in the background. And that was that!

I hope this card has inspired you to get inky in your next craft session. I’ll be back later this week with more inspo using the new Essentials by Ellen release products, and in the meantime, have a wonderful day!
