Essentials by Ellen Fall Release Sneak Peek

Essentials by Ellen September Release: Pumpkin Season and Nordic Cross Cover Die

Hey there friends!

We’re coming up on the next Essentials by Ellen release over on EllenHutson.com, and today I’ve got a little sneak peek to share featuring 2 new products. For me, fall wouldn’t be fall without pumpkins, so my heart was singing when I saw the Pumpkin Season stamp set. This is designed by the incredible Julie Ebersole, and includes both solid stamped images and line art. As someone who loves solid stamps and has also been dabbling into Copic coloring, it’s exactly what makes my crafty little heart sing!

In addition to the Pumpkin Season stamp set (which has coordinating dies too), I’ve also been playing with the new Nordic Cross cover die. As many of you know, I love a good white-on-white background with both texture and dimension. This cover die ticks all the boxes, and I can see myself using it for a ton of holiday designs. One unique feature that might not be obvious when you look at it, is that it doesn’t cut the edge of your paper – just the crosses. It perfectly covers an A2 card panel, but since it doesn’t cut edges you can easily use it for other card sizes too.Essentials by Ellen September Release: Pumpkin Season and Nordic Cross Cover Die

For my project, I combined the stamp set and the cover die, using both to create my background. I created an ink blended panel using Catherine Pooler inks in Coral Cabana and Do-si-do, as well as Concord & 9th ink in Grapefruit. Once it was dry, I heat embossed some pumpkins in a somewhat random arrangement. (Note: You could absolutely do an emboss resist technique here – I just did it this way because I wanted to see clearly where my pumpkins were stamped and sometimes emboss resist can make that challenging.)

While I had my inks and embossing supplies out, I stamped the ‘thanks’ sentiment from the same stamp set on Concord & 9th Mushroom cardstock, and cut it out with the coordinating die. I paired the Nordic Cross cover die with a plain white A2 panel, ran it through my die cutting machine, then trimmed it down to about half the size of my card front. Since I can’t make a card without foam tape, I put some little strips behind the Nordic Cross portion, adhered that to my ink blended panel, then backed the entire thing with more foam tape and mounted it on my card base. Finally, the sentiment finished it off.

I’ve got a whole bunch of other cards to share that use these same products, so keep your eyes on Instagram for those coming up very soon. This release drops this Friday, September 10th, and it’ll all be available at EllenHutson.com. We’ll be celebrating, there’s prizes to be won, and I think you’re going to love it!
