Happy Friday friends, and an even happier one than usual because the new Essentials by Ellen holiday release is now live! I’ve been posting sneak peeks on Instagram all week long, and yesterday shared this blog post that features the Oh What Fun gift with purchase stamp, explaining how I made a festive pop-up card without any specialty dies. The time has come for you guys to get your hands on these new goods, and today I’ve got another card to get you inspired.
To get started, I stamped a bunch of images from the Holiday Sprigs stamp set in black Copic-safe ink, then colored them in with Copic markers. I’m really new to Copic coloring, but the simple, clean look of these images made them very non-intimidating to color. That said, if you really don’t like coloring, you’re in luck – there’s solid images in the stamp set too!
Next, I used 2 of the Essentials by Ellen Essential Circles for Stitching, as well as a slightly smaller Essential Circle, to cut a round window into a plain white card panel with a dotted border around it. On the panel beneath, I stamped a ‘have a holly jolly Christmas’ from the Holly Jolly stamp set in Concord and 9th Evergreen ink.
Once I’d cut out all of my colored Holiday Sprigs pieces with the coordinating dies, I created a couple of little clusters that I thought looked good together around my sentiment. I adhered them in place, backed the entire panel with some foam tape, and mounted it on the A2 card base around my sentiment. (Note that you could easily add a shaker window to turn this into a shaker card!)
To finish off, I added a few gold metallic pearls on and around my flowers. The design is very clean and simple, but I really like how the color in the pointsettias really allow them to pop, and how the gold pearls add a festive touch.
