Societal pressure to look a certain way, our negative self-talk, and many other factors have contributed to making the concept of nutrition so unnecessarily complicated. Our individual relationships with food can be complex, influenced by all sorts of personal experiences and beliefs. For many women, food can bring up fear, anxiety and stress. There’s no denying that stereotypes have led so many of us to treat our bodies in ways that are entirely the opposite of self-loving. Eating less, getting thinner, fitting into smaller jeans and seeing numbers on the scale fall – these are all things we’ve come to associate with progress, often at the expense of listening to our intuition and being in touch with our bodies.
