Hey there friends! As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been having a LOT of fun playing with the new hot foil plates from Pinkfresh Studio, and today I’ve got a card to share that combines a hot foiled floral (say that 10 times fast!) with…. stripes! It’s no secret that I love a good striped card, and this time I’ve used them behind the floral to provide some contrast.
This project started with making a good old hot foil sandwich for my Spellbinders foiling machine. I layered my white cardstock, some silver foil, the Pinkfresh Studio Joyful Peonies hot foil plate and the 2 shims that come with the foiling machine, then placed it on the hot platform. When the timer button indicated it was ready, I ran the platform and sandwich through my die cutting machine, then carefully peeled back the foil. The result was a gorgeous silver peony that I cut out using the coordinating die.
While my foiling machine was still on, I also created a silver sentiment using the Celebrate hot foil plate, placing it towards the bottom right corner of a white card panel trimmed to fit on my card base.
Next, it was time to add some color. I picked 5 sheets of colored cardstock and cut 1/4″ strips out of each with the Essentials Slim Stripes die set, using one of each on this card. (Don’t worry, I have an envelope full of spare stripes for days that I’m too lazy to die cut – none of the remaining ones went to waste! I positioned my 5 strips horizontally across the top of the card, then used foam tape to adhere the peonies, trimming off the bits that hung over the edge of the card panel. Finally, I mounted the whole thing to my card base with more foam tape.
