Pinkfresh Studio June 2021 Release and Blog Hop

Pinkfresh Studio Butterflies Hot Foil Cards

Hey there friends! If you’re stopping by for the first time, welcome! I’m so glad to have you here, and if you’re a more regular visitor, welcome back! Today I’m super excited to join the Pinkfresh Studio June 2021 release and blog hop, and I’ve got two cards to share using some of the gorgeous new products.

Pinkfresh Studio Butterflies Hot Foil Cards

You may remember back in May that Pinkfresh released a gorgeous Butterflies stamp set, which included two butterfly images. Coordinating dies and layering stencils were also released, and all of them were super popular. I was SO excited (and I think you will be too) to see that this month, there’s a coordinating Pinkfresh Studio Butterflies hot foil plate!

I was eager to break out the layering stencil again, and set out to create two gold foiled butterfly cards. I began by using the Butterflies hot foil plate to foil both images – once on cardstock and again on vellum. For the cardstock ones, could certainly stencil first if you want to. However, using the foiled image as a guide for your stencils makes it super easy to ensure that everything lines up perfectly. (Don’t worry – the foil will not lose any of its shine if you stencil over it – the foil resists dye ink and since Pinkfresh inks dry very quickly, you don’t have to worry about smudging.)

With my two images foiled, I used the layering stencil set and Pinkfresh inks in Candy Violet, Mint, Mermaid Cove and Tidal Pond to color them in. Next came the die cutting, and since the coordinating dies are 1 piece, you get to do two at once. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Moving on to my background panels, I love a good clean white background with some subtle texture for visual interest. On one card, I used a small dotted circle die from the Pinkfresh Mini Slimline Essentials Bundle, and ran that through my die cutting machine several times with a trimmed white card panel. I left a little bit of space in the bottom right corner, just enough to stamp the ‘I am so grateful for you’ from the new Lemons and Blueberries stamp set.

For the other card, I decided to make a shaker, using the Pinkfresh Radiating Background 2 die to create (as the name suggests) a radiating effect coming out of the middle. I covered the hole in the center with acetate, then covered the non-window portion of the back of the panel with foam tape. Next it was time to fill the shaker with clear crystals, which is always the best part of making a shaker card, right?! Finally, I sealed up the back with a piece of cardstock that I turned yellow with Lemon Whip ink and a large blending brush. (When you don’t have the right color of cardstock on hand, it doesn’t take long to make your own!)

I die cut a frame for the shaker window with 2 simple circle dies, then embossed ‘the world needs more of you’ sentiment from the new Blossoms and Berries stamp set in white, curving the stamp in my stamping platform to follow the curve in the circle. With the frame adhered to the card, all I needed to do was assemble my butterfly layers and stick them onto the shaker window. One card done!

Back to the card with the dotted circle background, this one was really simple to assemble – definitely faster than the shaker! With the background die cutting done and sentiment stamped, all I did was attach my vellum butterfly layer to the colored one with 2 mini glue dots. I adhered that to my that on an angle to my dotted circle panel, and mounted the whole thing to the card base with foam tape.
