Pinkfresh Studio Bougainvillea Hot Foil Cards

Hey friends! It’s time for another exciting release from Pinkfresh Studio, and if you like nice shiny things, you are going to love this one because…

Pinkfresh Studio Blog Hop

…there’s hot foil! Yes, that’s right. Pinkfresh has just launched some gorgeous hot foil plates – their very first – and when I saw them, I was instantly sold on getting a hot foiling machine. Today I’ve got 2 coordinated cards to share for the blog hop. If you (like me) are a total newbie to foiling, know that these are super easy and a LOT of fun to make!

For my first card, I began by using the new Bougainvillea layering stencil and Pinkfresh inks in Candy Violet, Slumber and Olive to create a floral background. Once that was done, I plugged in my hot foil machine and used some washi tape to align and temporarily hold the Bougainvillea hot foil plate as closely as I could over my stenciling. I knew it would be a little off, but wasn’t bothered by this because I was going for a more artsy look.

With my foil “sandwich” assembled (stenciled panel, silver foil, hot plate, and shims), I placed it on my foiling machine and waited for the timer light to indicate that it was ready. After running the sandwich and the platform beneath it through my die cutting machine, I carefully peeled away the hot foil to reveal the result…. which was so pretty and shiny!

While I had the foiling machine out, I used the Bougainvillea hot foil plate once more, this time with rose gold foil and a plain white card panel. Even without the stenciling underneath to “colour in” the flowers, the result was beautiful, shiny… gah! I was in love with this magical machine, so I carried on with the Best Wishes hot foil plate, one in silver and one in rose gold. Which look do you prefer, stenciled with foiling, or just the foil outline on its own? I can’t decide!

Next up, it was time for die cutting. I used the coordinating Best Wishes die to cut the sentiments, then pulled out my near and dear Slim Strips die set to create a whole bunch of 1/4″ strips from coloured cardstock. With the strips trimmed to the width of my underlying Bougainvillea card panels, I adhered them with tape runner, then mounted the panels to two heavyweight white card bases.

To finish, I backed my sentiments with some skinny double-sided foam adhesive, then secured them on my cards. I absolutely love how these turned out, and can’t wait to play with these hot foil plates more. (Stay tuned to watch me foil allll the things in upcoming posts. #cantstopwontstop!)

Feeling inspired? You can check out all the products in the latest release here, and this coming Friday I’ll be back with a couple more Bougainvillea creations to share. In the meantime, today I’m part of Pinkfresh Studio’s blog hop, along with many other talented crafters as you’ll see below. As usual, there’s prizes to be won! Read on for the details…

Your card reminds us that something does not have to be loaded with glitz, sparkles, embellishments and fifty layers to be breathtaking. It’s very, very pretty! Love the stripes at the bottom and that bougainvillea print is amazing! TFS!!
