Pinkfresh Studio December 2020 Stencil and Die Release

It’s time for another new release from Pinkfresh Studio, and friends, this one is so much fun! If you’re into stencils, you’re going to love it. If you’re not (yet), you soon will be. Get those ink pads ready!

Pinkfresh Studio December 2020 Stencil and Die Release and Blog Hop

To be completely honest, until now I haven’t really been much of a stencil user. Being the clumsy crafter that I am, I’m prone to my stencils slipping and sliding when I don’t want them to, masking paper coming loose, and plenty of other “oops” moments. But I’ll tell you right now that the stencils in this December release are so incredibly easy to use! Most of them are layering stencils which means adding different colours is super easy – no need to use a ton of masking paper to prevent accidentally swiping ink over an unintended spot. In addition, the floral stencils come with coordinating dies so that you can easily cut out your gorgeous stenciled works of art and layer them onto your other card elements.

Pinkfresh Studio December 2020 Stencil and Die Release - Daisy Wreath Stencil Card

For today’s first card, I’ve used the Daisy Wreath Layered Stencil Set, along with Pinkfresh Studio dye inks and some blending brushes to create the focal point. For the daisies I started with Candy Violet ink and added highlights in Regal Kiss. The flower centers were added in Sweet Mustard, and the greenery was a combo of Meadow and Emerald City. This stencil set comes with 5 stencils in total, each of which is numbered so you know exactly which one to use next.

Once the stencil work was complete, I used the coordinating Daisy Wreath Die to cut it out. Rather than placing this on a flat white background, I reached for the Essentials Nested Chevron die (part of last month’s release) and some heavyweight white cardstock. I centered the chevrons on a white card panel, then adhered them with foam tape, trimming off the edges that fell over the edge.

With this very dimensional white background, I simply centered the daisy wreath on top, tucking a little heat embossed ‘thank you’ sentiment next to one of the flowers.

For the second card, I used the Layered Sunburst Stencil Set and a rainbow of 18 different Pinkfresh inks to create the look you see below.

Ink colours used:

  • Pinks: Ballet Slipper, Sparkling Rose, Raspberry Bliss
  • Orange/Corals: Peach Fuzz, Coral Reef, Passion Fruit
  • Yellows: Sunshine, Sweet Mustard, Marigold
  • Greens: Mint, Meadow, Emerald City
  • Blues: Slumber, Blue Jay, Sapphire
  • Purples: Soft Lilac, Candy Violet, Lavender

This took a little while because of the 18 inks I used with the stencil’s 3 layers, but the result was totally worth it if you ask me! I used my ink blending brushes to apply the colour, using the little guides on the corners of the stencils to make sure everything was perfectly aligned. I may have actually let out a little squeal of excitement when the 5th stencil was removed to reveal the complete sunburst!

After trimming the rainbow panel to fit my card base, I adhered it with some foam tape. I finished with a simple die cut ‘Hooray’ sentiment from the Essentials Classic Words Die Set, centering it right in the middle of the sunburst.
