Pinkfresh Studio February Challenge

Pinkfresh Studio February Challenge - Angela Simpson

A new month means a new challenge over at Pinkfresh Studio, and the February Challenge theme is all about alphabet dies!

If you’ve been a follower of my blog for a while, you’ll have likely noticed that one of the alphabet die sets I get a LOT of use out of is the Heather’s Lowercase Die Set. I love its versatility and clean look, so instinctually, I reached for it on this card.

I began by putting together my background card panel, cutting some 1/4 inch strips of cardstock using the Slim Stripes die set. It’s very rare that I create a card with just green and yellow, but those were two of the colours in the inspiration photo, and I’m pretty happy with how things turned out.

After securing the stripes to my background panel and trimming the edges, I moved on to heat embossing. I chose a large floral stamp from the Floral Notes stamp set, and embossed it in white on heavyweight vellum. This image is big enough to fill a slimline card, but I only used part of it here – just enough to fit the width of my frame. Speaking of which, that was made with the smaller die in the 2-piece Stitched Scallop Rectangles die set.

After cutting out the flowers and trimming the vellum down, I secured it on the back side of the frame, then lined the edges with foam tape. I mounted this on my striped background panel, then finished by adding my die cut ‘hello’ letters from Heather’s Lowercase die set.
