It may only be September, but December’s going to be here before we know it and as cardmakers, you can never start on those holiday cards too early. Am I right?! Thankfully, Pinkfresh Studio likes to get ahead of the game too, and I’m excited to be part of the Holiday 2022 new release blog hop today. This release is packed with beautiful holiday stencils, stamps, dies and hot foil plates, and even if you’re not quite feeling festive yet, trust me – you will by the time you see all the inspiration along the hop!
My project today features the new Festive Leaves layering stencils and coordinating die, as well as the new Joy hot foil plate. I don’t know about you, but when I see holiday foliage, my mind instantly goes to wreaths and that’s exactly what happened here. (Of course, there are many more arrangements you could make with these, but I LOVE a good wreath and it’s been a while!)
To get started, I stenciled all of the images in the stencil set with a combo of Pinkfresh inks in Evergreen, Emerald City and Candy Apple. When they were all cut out with the Festive Leaves die, I began layering them in a circle until I had an arrangement that nicely fit on the front of my A2 card. While those were held in place with temporary adhesive, I quickly made a simple textured background using the Stitches cover plate – a previously-released oldie but goodie, and a GREAT item to have on hand for holiday cards.
For the sentiment, I used matte gold foil and that big, bold Joy plate over Concord & 9th Evergreen cardstock, then cut it out with the coordinating Joy die. Next, I assembled the card by adhering the wreath and sentiment to the background panel, then mounting the whole thing on an A2 card base with foam tape. To finish, I added a few shiny gold pearls and drew on some white accents with a gel pen.
