Pinkfresh Studio March 2022 Release + Blog Hop

Pinkfresh Studio Rainbow Floral Birthday Card

Hi there! Today I’m excited to be part of the blog hop for Pinkfresh Studio’s new March 2022 release. This one’s full of a little bit of everything – stamps, stencils, dies, washi and hot foil plates, and of course, plenty of Pinkfresh florals.

On the hot foiling side of things, my dreams came true this month with three sets of frames – nested hexagons, circles and diamonds. I LOVE these sets for their versatility, as well as the results, and I think those of you who also do a lot of foiling are going to enjoy them too. Each also has a coordinating die set available, so you can easily cut out your frames, or foil directly onto a card panel.

For today’s project, I decided to use the hexagons to create a terrarium-like look on a two-toned background. To begin, I cut two cardstock panels to 3.5 x 4.75″ – one in white, and the other in Peacock cardstock from Concord & 9th. After slicing them diagonally and securing them together to create my base panel, I used the largest of the hot foil hexagon plates to make the gold frame.

The frame definitely needed some decorating, and that’s where the Rainbow Floral Washi stamp, layering stencils and coordinating die came in. (There’s also a Rainbow Floral Washi tape, just in case you were curious!) To make my stenciling as easy as possible, I first stamped all of the images in the set using Pinkfresh Studio Warm Buff ink – a very light tan color that wouldn’t be noticeable after the other ink colors were applied on top.

Keeping the palette simple, I chose Tidal Pond and Ballet Slipper for my stenciling. When I got to the more detailed stencils I used a heavier hand, then went back in once more with my blending brushes at the end to soften out the transitions between dark and light. Once the images from the Rainbow Floral stamp were all colored in, I popped the piece of cardstock back into my MISTI, stamped in clear embossing ink, then applied and heat set light gold embossing powder.

To add some dimension to the card, I popped the background panel forwards on foam tape, arranged the flowers around the frame, and added a triple-die cut sentiment from the Fancy Script Words hot foil plate set. (These days I almost always die cut at least 3 of the same sentiment and stack them on top of each other, rather than using foam strips to pop a single sentiment forward. It’s more sturdy, holds up better in the mail, and it’s a great way to use up scraps of cardstock that might otherwise go to waste.) Finally, I added a few metallic gold pearls to finish the card.
