Hi friends! Today I’m joining the Pinkfresh Studio May Challenge, where this month’s theme is Anything Goes.
Last month’s theme was Gold Goodness and I loved creating cards for that, so I decided to continue on that streak with some more shiny foiled florals! Before I got my hot foiling machine, I’d previously experimented with other foiling methods but could never achieve the crisp, clean results I wanted. Investing in yet another piece of crafting equipment was something I thought a lot about before finally taking the plunge, but a few months in, I must say that it was a GREAT decision!
Let’s first talk about this card’s background. I began by using the Pinkfresh Studio Pop-Out Nested Chevron Cling Stamp, along with Pinkfresh inks in the following colors:
- Aquamarine
- Mint
- Warm Buff
- Misty Coast
With my background set aside to dry, I switched on my foiling machine and prepared my “peony sandwich”. With white cardstock on the bottom, I layered the foil (shiny side up), then the Joyful Peonies hot foil plate, then the shims that come with the foiling system. Once the indicator light on the foiling machine said it was ready, I let the sandwich heat up, and then ran it through my die cutting machine to let the plate imprint the foil on the cardstock.
Peeling back the foil is always the best part, but it’s also the moment that I hold my breath and say a little prayer that it worked. I’m happy to say that I’ve yet to be disappointed – it ALWAYS comes out super clean and crisp! True magic, I tell ya.
With the peony foiled, I used the coordinating die to cut it out and popped some foam tape on the back. I mounted this on my stamped background, then finished the card with a white heat embossed ‘Celebrate’ from the Birthday Sentiments stamp set.
If you’d like to participate in the Pinkfresh Studio May Challenge, all the details you’ll need to enter can be found here. Winners will receive a $50 gift card, and you’ve got until June 1st to share. I can’t wait to see what you create!
