Pinkfresh Studio November Essentials Release + Blog Hop

Pinkfresh Studio November Release Blog Hop - Blanket Stitch Rectangles

Hi friends! Today I’m excited to be part of a blog hop to celebrate the new Pinkfresh Studio November Essentials release, and I’ve got a fun little project to share with you.

A while back Pinkfresh released the Blanket Stitched Ovals and Circles sets, and the pattern is definitely one of my favorites in the Essentials lineup. As you’ve probably come to expect with Pinkfresh, when a great Essentials item launches in one shape, the other shapes aren’t too far behind! In this release you’ll find Blanket Stitched Squares and Blanket Stitched Rectangles. Today’s card features the latter, a 3-piece die set great for creating borders and frames. I’ve used the largest one to create the edging you see on my background panel below.

Of course, there’s more to this card than just the border, so let’s chat about it! I’ve pulled in a few items from the release earlier this month, including the Brushed Sentiments hot foil plates, which I immediately used to batch-produce sentiments with. I love having a wide variety on hand, and this set has some perfect words for everyday cards and celebrations. I was going for a purple and teal color scheme in this design, so I used a Hello imprinted in matte silver hot foil on Concord & 9th Peacock cardstock.

For the floral element, I used the Darling Dahlias Layering Stencils and coordinating stamp, filling in the stencils with color from Pinkfresh Candy Violet and Tidal Pond inks. I wanted the colors to be slightly more muted than they are on their own, so I chose to do my blending on gray cardstock instead of white, and omitted the final stencil which would have filled in a background color. Once that panel was complete, I used the Simply Hexagons cover die to slice the florals into hexagons in my die cutting machine. It pained me to only use a few of the pieces here, but don’t worry – the others were used on another card and did not go to waste!

Initially I tried layering my hexagon bits on top of the blanket stitch rectangle panel, but I felt it looked a bit plain and needed some texture. To achieve this, I used my trusty Curvy Leaves die set, which gets a LOT of mileage around here! After die cutting some white leaves, I covered a white panel trimmed a little smaller than the blanket stitch border one beneath. Backed with foam tape, I mounted the leafy panel, followed by the hexagons on more foam tape. The Hello sentiment followed, and I finished the card with a few clear crystals.
