Reverse Confetti August Blog Hop: Summer Shaker Card

Reverse Confetti Dog Days Shaker Card

This summer I’ve had the pleasure of being one of Reverse Confetti’s Fetti Friends, and today I’m excited to be part of the August blog hop. The July release included a whole bunch of fun new products including hot foil plates (more about those here), and today’s card highlights the Dog Days stamp set and coordinating dies.

I began this project by stamping and coloring a couple of images from the Dog Days stamp set, using my Copics and a palette of pale aqua blues, oranges, and a touch of yellow. The coordinating dies made cutting them out a breeze, and I used the Dog Days Sentiments to emboss a little “sending good vibes” on Concord & 9th Oceanside cardstock.

Moving on to the background, I wanted to make it look like the dog was suntanning next to a swimming pool. To do this, I made a quick ink blended panel to serve as the back of my shaker card. Next, I used the Deco Cover Panel and white cardstock to make a thick frame (or pool deck), and cut a rectangle out of the middle. With a piece of acetate adhered behind it and foam tape covering the edges, the shaker window was all ready to go.

I poured some iridescent stars onto the aqua ink blended background and mounted the window panel over top, sealing all the stars inside. Finally, I adhered the dog, umbrella and sentiment on top, and finished the card by adding some Glossy Accents to the dog’s sunglasses.

And there you have it, a fun and super cute summer-themed shaker card! Be sure to check out the other stops along the blog hop by visiting the links below.

  1. This is adorable, Angela. I love the colors you chose. They are perfect to inspire the feeling of cool – like sherbet shades. Beautiful card!! Love that Dog Days set and will be looking at the entire release shortly.
