Sending Joy… and Sparkles – featuring The Stamp Market

Sending Joy and Sparkles - featuring The Stamp Market - My Fresh Perspective

Ready for another sparkly holiday number? I hope so, because I’m on a major glitter cardstock kick right now!

As I mentioned in my last post, I recently purchased some of The Stamp Market’s Diamond Glitter cardstock and was super impressed by how cleanly it die cuts. For today’s design, I put it to the test with another scripty word die.

To start, I created my background using the Dot Dot Dot Stamp and fine detail white embossing powder on a vellum sheet. I love the subtle-yet-still-interesting effect that white on vellum creates, as it allows the elements layered on top to really stand out.

Next, I used this gorgeous 2-piece Joy die along with Color Crush cardstock in Emerald, Tropic Teal and Party Pink to cut the shadow layers of my sentiment. For the thin script I used the Diamond Glitter cardstock, and I backed all but the Party Pink layer in double-sided adhesive sheets so that I could stick them together quickly and easily. Once those were put together, I stamped the ‘to the world’ sentiment from the coordinating Joy Stamp Set on a little pink banner.

The card needed more colour than just the layered sentiment, so I added some Holly and Berries cut from Emerald and Fresh Pink cardstock around the edges. After trimming the holly to align with the edges of the vellum panel, it was time for… you guessed it, dimension junkies – foam tape! I used skinny foam strips under the joy sentiment, as well as under the vellum to attach it to my card base. Like in my last card, the placement of the holly and berries near the corners here allowed me to hide the foam strips underneath, while also ensuring that the vellum stayed securely in place. Seriously, I don’t know what I’d do without skinny strips!

Annnd that’s it! Making this card (and pulling out those little decorations you see in the photos!) got me even more excited about holiday card making, but also very aware that it’s already mid-October and December will be here before we know it! I’d love to see what you guys have been making for the holidays (cards or otherwise!), so feel free to connect with me on Instagram at @mycraftyperspective. Looking forward to meeting you!
