Hi friends! Today marks the start of Simon Says Stamp‘s annual celebration known as Stamptember, and today I’m taking part in a great big blog party full of inspiration. If you’ve been looking for some ideas for your autumn and holiday card making, I’m certain you’ll find it today! And, if you’re brand new to my blog, I’m thrilled that you’re here!
Fall gets my brain thinking about Thanksgiving and leaves, so when I saw the new Simon Says Stamp Ornate Leaves die set, a thank-you card felt like a very natural choice. You can never have too many thank you cards in your stash, right?
To get started, I used the Simon Says Stamp Brushstroke Messages stamp set (an oldie but a goodie!) to create a fall-inspired background. This exact stamp set doesn’t appear to be sold anymore, but this one is quite similar and could be used to achieve the same sort of result.
When my background was finished, I trimmed down my white card panel to 3.5″ x 4.75″ and heat embossed a ‘thank you’ from the stamp set underneath. At this point the panel was all set to welcome the star of the show, one of the Ornate Leaves! In honor of my Canadian roots I picked the one that looked like a maple leaf and die cut it twice from white cardstock. Rather than fiddling around with a glue pen to stack and stick them together (which is totally fine if you love to do that!), I backed my white cardstock with a double-sided adhesive sheet before die cutting. This way, I could be confident that the layers wouldn’t come apart, and that the full leaf would stick very securely on my card.
After adhering the leaf over my colorful background “brush strokes” (aka stamping) I mounted the panel onto my A2 card base with foam tape and finished with a few metallic gold pearls.
You can check out all the new goodies in the Stamptember release here, and since free gifts are ALWAYS fun, I’ve got one for you! By using the code below, you can get a free Dot Runner plus 2 refills with a purchase at Simon Says Stamp of $30 or more.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and if this is the first time we’ve met, I’d love to be friends on Instagram! You can find me at @mycraftyperspective. Happy Stamptember, and happy crafting!
