Trufflin’ Valentines Day Card

Trufflin' Valentines Day Card

Hey there, friends! Did you catch the new Essentials by Ellen release last week? Admittedly, I was a little preoccupied with moving to a new apartment on release day, but I hope you all enjoyed the sneak peeks and inspiration shared by the team during Friday’s Instagram hop. Oh, and don’t worry – if you missed it, there’s still plenty of time to participate! You’ll find the details in my feed here.

To keep that new release excitement going, today I’ve got another card featuring the new Trufflin’ stamp set. This has coordinating dies available too, and the stamp images offer heaps of possibilities for decorating the truffles however you like.

For my clean and simple card, I started by drawing a bunch of faint, evenly spaced diagonal lines across an A2 card panel with pencil. These served as spacing guides as I stamped various solid truffle images in the following colors:

  • Pink: Catherine Pooler Pink Champagne (light) with Rose Petals (accents)
  • Lighter Orange: Concord & 9th Grapefruit (light) with Sorbet (accents)
  • More Vibrant Orange: Catherine Pooler Orange Peel (light) with Mandarin Spice (accents)
  • Yellow: Catherine Pooler Whipped Honey (light) with Shea Butter (accents)
  • Red: Catherine Pooler Polished (light) with Rouge (accents)

Once that stamping was done, I erased all the pencil lines and cut the panel down to 3.5 x 4.75″ (my go-to measurements to leave a thick white border) with an Essentials by Ellen Essential Rectangle die, then moved on to sorting out the sentiments. This was way quicker and easier than you might anticipate, because I’d already made heaps of them with the Valentine Vibes stamp set and Sentiment Strips Die.

One of the things I love about the Valentine Vibes stamp set, as well as others in the Essentials by Ellen collection like it, is that you can mix and match them to make your own custom messages. That’s what I chose to do here, using 5 trimmed strips and justifying them towards the bottom right of the panel.

To finish off, I mounted the stamped piece to an A2 card base with foam tape and called it a day. That said, I’m really excited to keep playing with this set, dressing those truffles up in other ways – embossed icing, chunky glitter, glossy accent – SO many ideas!
