Pointsettias and Pine Boughs - featuring The Stamp Market

This past weekend I had a ton of fun playing with some new goodies in my craft stash, and today’s card was one of the results. I don’t know about you, but your resident plant lady over here gets particularly excited when the first pointsettias start making appearances around town over the holidays. They remind me of winter festivals and Christmas shopping – and by that I mean the fun parts, not the frantic parts!

With these memories in my mind, I was particularly excited when I saw The Stamp Market pointsettia stamp set with coordinating dies released earlier this month. As usual, I couldn’t resist! Before I knew it, the package was on my doorstep waiting to be put to use.

This stamp set features both small and large layered pointsettia stamps, as well as a few pieces of greenery. For this card, I started by stamping several small pointsettias in shades of pink Color Crush ink. I wasn’t sure what combos I’d prefer, but in the end, chose Peony and Bubblegum. The pine boughs were stamped in Leafy and the holly leaves in Cactus, and once all of my stamping was complete, I ran it all through my die cutting machine. It took a while since I’d stamped many, but I know I’ll be grateful to have them for use on future cards!

After assembling and adhering the Peony coloured leaves on the main pointsettia image, I moved on to my large letters. These are from the Jumbo Joy Dies, and since my pointsettia was going to serve as the ‘O’, I just die cut the J and Y – the thinner part from white cardstock, and the thicker part from Peony cardstock. Rather than placing these on a plain white card base, I created a woodgrain-textured panel with an embossing folder. It’s really hard to see it in these photos, but in real life, it provides just the right amount of visual interest behind the focal points. Once that was complete, I mounted it on craft foam for extra dimension, attached it to my card base, then adhered all of the remaining elements.

If you love big 2-piece sentiment dies like I do, stay tuned for next week – I’ve got a couple more examples to come! In the meantime, I hope this design left you feeling inspired. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. What a beauty!! I must admit – I’m far more smitten with poinsettias in the paper variety than IRL (I’ll take tropicals, and soft pastel blooms instead!) but I sure do LOVE how you’ve used this set here! So, so beautiful!
