The card for your long distance bestie

The perfect handmade card for your long-distance bestie, or anyone you're missing right now - featuring The Stamp Market Leaflet Die - My Fresh Perspective

Even though last week felt long, it ended on such a high note. I received an email from one of my childhood best friends who lives in Australia, and whom I haven’t actually seen in person since 2012 when I went to Melbourne to be in her wedding. When we met, my family had just moved to the Middle East in 2001, and I was 13. It was the first day of school, and I remember spotting her across the classroom and wondering if we’d become friends. Lucky for me, we did.

Even though many miles have separated us over the years and we don’t chat that often, we write each other email novels about our life updates and joke about the same things we did years ago. She’s truly one of my best friends, and pretty soon, today’s card will be landing in her mailbox!

This card started with a white background panel, subtly stamped with this Criss Cross Background Stamp in Blush Pink ink. Next, I used the The Stamp Market Leaflet die and the mini bloom die that comes in the same set to create my foliage. Colour-wise, I went with the Color Crush cardstock shades of Cactus and Leafy for the leaves, and Orchid and Party Pink for the blooms. After deciding on their arrangement, I adhered them to the Criss Cross background panel. The perfect handmade card for your long-distance bestie, or anyone you're missing right now - featuring The Stamp Market Leaflet Die - My Fresh Perspective

For the greeting, I used “I miss you quite terribly” (very fitting for my long-distance bestie!) from the Sincere Sentiments stamp set, and heat embossed it with fine metallic gold embossing powder on white cardstock. Then, to ensure it remained the focal part of the card, I used these oblong hexagon dies to cut around the sentiment, as well as one slightly larger hexagon from Blush Pink cardstock to go behind it. Finally, I secured the hexagon piece to the leafy panel with foam tape, which gave it some dimension.. and you guys know I LIVE for dimension!

I’d love to hear.. do you have a childhood best friend that you live miles away from, yet still keep in touch with? How long have you known each other? How did you meet?
